Hello..I do not know why I have such a hard time understanding how to connect things, or why I get so intimidated, but I can really use some help.
I recently purchased a like new pair of Definitive Technology BP2002 TL speakers with built-in 250 watt sub woofers. I am going to listen to I-Tunes Music only from my Macbook, connected with a Toslink/mini cable from my Airport Express, to a PeachTree Nova Integrated Amp. I need help on how I should connect these speakers and what is good speaker cable to get. Not the real cheap cables, but not the cables that are over $500 a pair. As far as connections go..Definitive Technology said I should bi-wire the speakers, while others have said, that is a waste in most cases and just connect them normally. Is anyone familiar with these speakers? Or, has anyone ever owned these. I am not sure what terminals to connect too, or, if I should hook them up normally and NOT bi-wire. Someone said just leave the mid and low level terminals jumped together and just connect the speaker cable to the left and right. Someone else said connect two sets of speakers wires to the high and mid speaker terminals and nothing to the sub woofer terminals because they are not needed for the subs to work properly. And someone else said hook the left and right and get separate sub woofer cables and connect them to the sub terminals. As you can see..someone like me that doesn't understand this to begin with, is totally confused and stressed. Any help anyone can offer would really be helpful. Dave

you only have a single stereo amplifier, so biwiring does not make much sense.
First, just hook them up and let the internal cross-over do it's job and feed the incoming signal to the right speakers, just make sure the metal jumpers between input terminals are in place. If they sound good, leave it at that As for speaker wire, get decent grade 14 gauge copper 2 conductor wire from Lowes or Home Depot, or over the internet from www.monoprice.com and forget all the marketing hype about good-better-best speaker wires...copper is copper, the rest is make believe Madison Ave. sales dribble.

The members of the definitive technology owners thread gave you solid advice. I also own definiytive bipolars and agree with what they said.

Dave Dave, I have the 2002TL's hooked up with regular spkr wire. The jumpers are removed from the woofers. I'm also feeding a low level RCA subwoofer cable from my processor to the low level input marked on the back of the 2002TL. I'm letting my five channel amp drive the mids and highs and the 250 watt amp in the 2002's drive the lows. Your Peach Tree is just two channel right? Definitive Technology Bp 2002

Hello Espo..Yes, the Peachtree Nova is just 2-channel, so I do not have any need to worry about home theater or more than the 2-channel integrated amp

Don't forget to plug in the AC cord.

Hello I am setting up my home theater in our new home and before the new drywall goes up to hang the screen I want to plan the speaker wiring properly that will also be behind the wall (or at least have options to change/test)
My receiver is the Yamaha A2030, I have Definitive Technology BP 2002 tower speakers with built in subwoofers, and stand-alone subwoofer Velodyne 1210. The speakers/sub are old but extremely solid and I love their sound when paired with a Yamaha receiver (the 2030 is the 4th Yamaha I've had since buying these speakers in the late 90's).
My question is the wiring for the subs. The DefTech speakers each have a dedicated subwoofer port (which I never used). An AV guy who helped setup my projector screen suggested running a line to them. I only had a line going from the receiver to the velodyne sub. According to the Yamaha manual, I can power two subwoofers from it.

I have always set my speaker size to large to get the full range, and the BP2002 subs got used doing so. I'm curious if I should try and have the 2nd sub output go to a Y-cable to send sub signal directly to the BP sub inputs? If I did that would you not have the gold 'jumper' that goes between the high/mid/low posts not be connected to the low posts anymore?
Not sure how to configure that from the Yamaha and the BPs themselves.
Thanks for any advice on setup (and any suggested wires to buy).
